Route 60 Construction Information
Important Information for Lake Forest MBA Students, Lake Forest Corporate Education Clients, and Visitors to the Lake Forest Campus:
On November 7, 2007, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) began construction on the Route 60 bridge over the Tri-state Tollway/I-94 in Lake Forest.
This 13-month project is scheduled to be completed in December 2008.
Given this lengthy construction project on Route 60, we recommend that you allow yourself extra time when traveling to the Lake Forest campus in Conway Park, particularly during rush hour or inclement weather.
Since the timing of this project has come five months earlier than anticipated, we've created this page to share updated information as we receive it. Below are a few FAQs that may be helpful.

FAQs
Why is the Route 60 Tollway Bridge Under Construction?
Lane closures on Route 60 are part of a road improvement project that will widen the bridge and significantly reduce congestion for the 36,000 drivers who cross the tollway on Route 60 each day.
This bridge is one of several bridges that will be widened as a part of the North Tri-State Tollway (I-94/I-294) “Rebuild and Widen” project. The corridor will be rebuilt and widened to four lanes in each direction from Dempster Street to Route 173.
The Route 60 bridge, along with several other bridges along that corridor, will be rebuilt and widened to accommodate the future widening of the mainline in that section.
Ultimately, the wider bridges will allow for smoother traffic flow onto and off of the Tri-state Tollway, which is also being widened to provide congestion relief and reduce travel times.

When Will the Construction End?
According to an IDOT, all lanes on the widened Route 60 bridge are scheduled to open by December 2008. Landscaping and other work will continue through Spring 2009.

What Does This Mean for My Commute to the Lake Forest Campus?
We have been advised by IDOT to recommend that you allow yourself extra time for your commute to the Lake Forest campus, particularly during peak commuting hours and inclement weather.
During the first few weeks of construction (November 2007), it is anticipated that the lane closures will only affect eastbound travelers on Route 60. To get to the Lake Forest campus, you may want to consider alternate north/south routes on the east side of the tollway – such as Route 43 (Waukegan Road) or Route 41 – in order to travel westbound on Route 60 to the campus.
Before heading to our Lake Forest campus, we recommend that you keep key phone numbers handy in the event that you need to contact us while en route. Additionally, the main phone number for our Lake Forest Campus is 847.234.5005.
