Ms. Mix joined the College of American Pathologists in January 2003.  The College of American Pathologists is a not-for-profit medical society serving more than 17,000 physician members and the laboratory community throughout the world. Serving as an advocate for high-quality, cost-effective medical care, the College is the world’s largest association composed exclusively of board-certified pathologists, and it is regarded as the leader in laboratory quality assurance.

Ms. Mix is responsible for developing an integrated strategy to align compensation, development, and organization effectiveness to the College’s overall strategy. She is responsible for attracting, retaining, and developing the human capital of the organization, including paid professional staff and unpaid member volunteers. In addition, she guides the development of the organization’s member-elected Board, and oversees the planning and development of the College’s complex member-committee structure.

Prior to joining the College, Ms. Mix spent several years at Pharmacia Corporation supporting their global pharmaceutical R&D efforts. In that role she worked through the acquisition of Searle by the Pharmacia & Upjohn Company, and worked on the initial phases of the Pharmacia acquisition by Pfizer. She began her career at Baxter Healthcare, where she held numerous roles over fourteen years. Her experience at Baxter included broad HR support of operations, sales and marketing, manufacturing, and R&D in both domestic and international environments. She worked extensively in compensation, leadership development, and organizational change.

Ms. Mix is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management, the Human Resources Management Association of Chicago, the Association Forum of Chicagoland, and the American Society of Association Executives. Her community involvement has included volunteering with Public Action to Deliver Shelter and Habitat for Humanity.
